Strawmelon's parent variety is Strawberries and Cream F2, originally created by Exotic Genetix. Grateful Seeds selected a particular specimen of this variety, number 24, which stood out for its strong, woodland strawberry-like scent and dense, resinous flowers. The mother plant No. 24 was crossed with Fresca Melon from La Chanvrière's (@lachanvriere) range: this is a special cuttings from the Zkittlez x Watermelon Zkittlez cross, hand-picked by Dying Breed Seeds in the USA. Fresca Melon brings yield-boosting vigour and a shorter flowering period to the cross. It also gives sweet melon and ripe apricot aromas, balanced by acidic tropical notes, including passion fruit.
