Skunk #1 – Sensi Seeds

A classic hybrid variety from California - stable, purebred and standard.

Skunk #1 was the first fully stabilized THC-dominant hybrid variety. The original crossing was done in California, but most of the actual breeding work was done in Holland in the 1980s. Breeding stocks at that time numbered in the tens of thousands.

The variety combined elegant tropical qualities with robust Afghani genetics. The result of generations of breeding was to establish the Christmas tree-like texture of the plants, with fruity scents from one to the next - and, admittedly, a touch of animalism in some parts.

Sensi Seeds has had Skunk #1 in its breeding stock since its inception. Originally, the seeds were produced in regular varieties, but only selected females have been used to produce feminised seeds.

The resulting plants have all the characteristics of the selected individuals first seen decades ago that made this variety famous - and left an indelible mark on the world of hemp breeding.

The variety won its first cup in 1988, when it won the very first High Times Cannabis Cup. Produced by Sensi Seeds, it was named Chica del Año (Girl of the Year) at the 2013 Barcelona Highlife Cup and was the crowd favourite at the 2014 Portugal Cannabis Cup.
